The incumbent member of parliament for Cape Coast North Constituency, Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku popularly called Ragga has been re-elected in the 2024 elections with a clear margin over his closest rival Mr. Horace Ekow Ewusi of the NPP.

Ragga garnered 23,521 representing 57.6% of total valid votes cast while Mr. Horace Ekow Ewusi of the NPP polled 17,045 representing 41.7% out of a total 40,858 valid vote cast with a 58% voter turnout.

Comparing the 2024 Cape Coast North election outcome to the 2020 elections, it highlights a significant improvement in Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku's votes. In 2020, Ragga polled 22, 972 representing 51.48% while Barbara Asher Ayisi of the NPP managed 21,643 representing 48.51%.

However, in 2024 Dr. Nyarku polled 23,521 votes signifying a 6,476 votes more than the NPP candidate which most people tipped to win. This reflects the current exigencies of the country, the good work and reputation Ragga has built over the past four years. The former NPP PC in Cape Coast North performed far better than Mr. Ekow Ewusi in the 2024 elections signifying the stature of Dr. Nyarku in Cape Coast North Constituency.

The 2024 elections in Cape Coast North was characterised by rancorous electioneering campaign which saw the constituency sharply divided between NPP and NDC. Indeed, at some point both the NDC and the NPP PCs had their billboards destroyed by unknown hoodlums. This, led to bitter blame games from both parties which is yet to be unravelled by the police.

Most political enthusiasts and observers tipped Mr. Ewusi of the NPP to wrestle the seat from the NDC candidate. Incidentally, some constituents judging from the plethora of developmental projects springing up across the constituency believed it was going to sway the elections in favour of the NPP. Alas, that didn't happen.

"It's been hard work and the implementation of well laid out strategy", Ragga extends his profound appreciation to party executives, the rank and file and all others who have contributed in diverse ways to support his campaign. He admitted it has never been a roller coaster ride, pledging his commitment to do more to alleviate the plight of his constituents.

He took the opportunity to urge party supporters to jubilate with caution, admonishing them not to incure the displeasure of anyone to disturb the peace of the constituency. "We've won and it's incumbent on us to be magnanimous in our jubilation. We're one people and should continue to live in harmony, in peace to develop our constituency".

Further, he shared on his Facebook wall "Whether you voted for me or not, I am and will be a Member of Parliament for all. Obiara ka ho!

Thank you, Cape Coast North, for the opportunity once again to serve you even better. To our great party, the NDC - at the national, regional, constituency and branch levels - I am humbled and deeply grateful for your unwavering support. I also extend my heartfelt appreciation to my campaign teams, social media campaigners, executives, and students, lecturers, and every single person who contributed to this victory. Highly appreciated and Jah bless us all.

Congratulations to all of us... still...Who Jah bless no one curse!!!!", the statement ended.
