Dome Kwabenya, Okaikwei Central, and two other parliamentary results were deemed unlawful and could not be sustained by the EC.

The Electoral Commission (EC) claims that the results of the parliamentary elections for the Dome Kwabenya, Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, and Tema Central constituencies are unlawful because of the way they were announced and cannot be sustained.

Samuel Tettey, the Deputy EC Chair for Operations, made the announcement on Friday, December 13 at a news conference in Accra.

Despite police being present at the collation centres to allow commission staff to conduct the re-collation, it is significant to note that the re-collation in the following constituencies—Dome Kwabenya, Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, and Tema Central—did not adhere to established procedures as outlined in CI 127.

"Party supporters once more overran the centres, forcing out staff to announce the results of their preferred candidates," Tettey said.

He claims that because EC officers were threatened with proclaiming winners, the established processes for announcing the results for all four constituencies were not properly followed in accordance with CI 127 standards.

Since the methods for collation and declaration as outlined in CI 127 were broken and not followed, he continued, "the commission has concluded that the collation and declarations that did not follow laid down procedures are illegal and cannot be upheld by the commission."

Tettey clarified that Suhum, Akwatia, and Fanteakwa North are the three seats that have successfully finished the recollation of parliamentary results out of the twelve.

However, in Techiman South, Obuasi East, Ahafo Ano North, and Ahafo Ano South West, recollection has not yet occurred.
