Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III received a courtesy call from former First Lady Lordina Mahama at the Manhyia Palace.

The wife of John Mahama, the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), went in Asanteman to inform the royal family about her campaign in advance of the election on December 7.

With roughly 22 days till the election, it was also to ask for their blessings for her marriage.

John Mahama, your son and my husband, is running for president in December, as everyone is aware. She emphasised the significance of obtaining blessings from the royal family prior to interacting with stakeholders in the Ashanti Region, saying, "I always feel at home every time I visit Manhyia, as Asantehemaa has been like a mother to me." Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the Asantehemaa, expressed gratitude for the visit and prayed for God's direction in the next elections.

She expressed hope that Ghana will choose the right leader despite acknowledging that the election process is challenging.

Mrs. Mahama then met with the Asantehene behind closed doors to ask for his approval and blessings.

Alongside Mrs Mahama were the NDC Regional Chairman, Nana Kwasi Andrew; Mrs Betty Mould Iddrisu, the former Attorney General and Minister for Justice; Obuobia Darko-Opoku, the Deputy Director of Communications; Kenneth Adjei, the former Deputy Defence Minister; members of the Ashanti region's women's wing; and parliamentary candidates.
