Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) vice presidential candidate and member of parliament for the Ashanti Region's Manhyia South Constituency, has initiated the construction of a National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) District Office in Manhyia. This move aims to improve healthcare delivery by increasing access to the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) nationwide .

The new office will make it easier for residents of Manhyia and surrounding villages, particularly disadvantaged groups, to receive NHIS services. Currently, they have to travel great distances to access these services. The completion of this project will alleviate the strain on locals in other areas and improve the quality of work for surrounding insurance plans.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh praised the traditional authorities for providing land for the project in a strategic location, ensuring accessibility for everyone. Louisa Atta-Agyemang, the NHIA's deputy chief executive officer, emphasized that the new office will enable service providers to carry out their responsibilities efficiently, leading to better service delivery for the citizens of the district .

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) is responsible for implementing, operating, and managing the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). The NHIA's functions include registering members, issuing identity cards, and managing the National Health Insurance Fund .
