The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has revealed that the collation process in 9 constituencies was disrupted following the 2024 general elections. These constituencies include Fanteakwa North, Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Techiman South, Ablekuma North, Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, Dome-Kwabenya, Ahafo Ano North, Obuasi East, Ahafo Ano South West, Akwatia, and Suhum.

According to the EC, the disruptions were largely caused by actions of political parties, which led to a temporary halt in the collation of results in these areas ¹. Returning officers were coerced into declaring candidates as winners under duress, faced threats to their lives, and encountered disruptions involving ballot papers or pink sheets.

The EC has condemned these actions and reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency and adherence to the rule of law in the electoral process. The Commission has also indicated that it will not accept the collated results of the Ablekuma North and Okaikwei Central constituencies, citing irregularities in the declaration process .
