Why I did not campaign in Dome-Kwabenya – Adwoa Safo

Sarah Adwoa Safo, the Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, has explained why she didn't participate in campaign activities in her constituency before the December 7 election. According to her, she wanted to give the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Mike Ocquaye Junior, the space to operate.

After losing the primaries on January 27, Adwoa Safo had made it clear that she would focus on supporting the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's campaign. She emphasized that her influence in the constituency is still significant, and she didn't want to overshadow Mike Ocquaye Junior's campaign.

However, Mike Ocquaye Junior's hopes of succeeding Adwoa Safo in the ninth parliament were dashed when the NPP lost the Dome Kwabenya seat to the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The NDC candidate, Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, won with 51,634 votes, while Mike Ocquaye Junior secured 50,477 votes. Despite the outcome, Mike Ocquaye Junior has refused to accept the results, citing invalid declaration.
