Why should Jean Mensa resign as EC? – Haruna Iddrisu questions
The Member of Parliament for Tamale South Constituency in the Northen region, Haruna Iddrisu has rejected calls for the dismissal of the Electoral Commissioner Jean Mensa.
According to him, Jean Mensa has no hand in who becomes president of the country and as a result, he is of the opinion that she should stay.
He stated that President-elect, John Mahama has no interest in dismissing the EC boss unless there are legal processes that might lead to her exit.
Speaking in an interview on TV3 on December 12, 2024, he stated,” Charlotte Osei was chairperson of the Electoral Commission, I think Jean Mensa also has procurement issues that might determine her future but no.
“Why would you change the electoral commission person? These are not matters of primary concern to President John Mahama. Jean Mensa doesn’t determine who rules Ghana; Ghanaians determine who rules them.”
