Queen of Ghana Congratulates Vice President-Elect Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman on Historic Achievement

The Queen of Ghana Pageant organization, led by Chief Executive Officer Araba Biesema Crentsil, has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Ghana's Vice President-elect, Her Excellency Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman, on her groundbreaking achievement.

In a statement issued on behalf of the organization and its affiliates, Ms. Crentsil praised Prof. Opoku-Agyeman for her unwavering commitment to public service, calling her historic election a source of inspiration for women and young girls across the nation.

"We are so proud of how far you have come," the statement read. "Your victory is a great precedent for women and young girls to emulate. As an organization focused on empowering women to take up space in governance and leadership, your achievement brings us immense joy and hope for the future."

The organization also highlighted the significance of Prof. Opoku-Agyeman's election in advancing the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 5, which focuses on achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls.

Noting the importance of addressing issues affecting women and children, Ms. Crentsil expressed confidence in the Vice President-elect's passion for girl-child education and called on her to prioritize the welfare of women and children during her tenure.

The statement also celebrated the victories of women who secured parliamentary seats in the recent elections, describing their success as a collective step toward gender equality in governance.

"As we celebrate your historic achievement, we are equally proud to say that our 2024 Women for Leadership and Governance Campaign coincided with this landmark victory," the statement added.

The Queen of Ghana Pageant pledged its unwavering support for Prof. Opoku-Agyeman and expressed its readiness to partner with her administration in initiatives that promote the well-being of women and children.

"We look forward to a productive term of office and wish you a memorable tenure," the statement concluded.

Araba Biesema Crentsil, who also serves as the Managing Director of the Child Intervention Organization, reaffirmed her commitment to advocating for women's leadership and empowering the next generation of female leaders.

Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman's election marks a significant milestone in Ghana’s political history, further inspiring efforts to achieve greater representation for women in governance.

We have been following closely and must say we are so proud of how far you have come. We want to take this opportunity to appreciate your level of commitment which is a great precedent for other women and young girls to emulate. As an organisation that has a primary goal of empowering women to take up space in governance and leadership, we cannot express enough how much joy your victory brings to us. We are proud to say our 2024 WOMEN FOR LEADERSHIP AND GOVERNANCE CAMPAIGN happened in the year of your victory. We also want to congratulate all the women who won various seats in constituencies to represent their people. Your victory takes us a step closer to achieving the United Nations SDG 5 and this calls for celebration.

Please do not forget the many issues that affect women and children. We know how passionate you are about girl-child education, but it will be a great joy to have a woman in such a high office who makes women and children a priority.
