Sarkodie said in an interview with Accra-based Joy News that "this is a real-life scenario and I think from both perspectivesΠI believe I've had it previously, but it wasn't as severe. I hailed from a middle-class household, but a friend of mine who was from a rich family owned a car. I haven't been in that position in a very long time, and I'm not in the other position because I don't people, you know. He had a space, and he occupied the boys' quarters of his house, so my girl, whom we all know I was dating, and I connected, but then I took it to the chin and changed from that day.
In an interview with Joy News, he stated, "This is a very relatable story; people will go out with their girlfriends this December and might end up going back alone." Sarkodie stated that he had been holding onto the song for two years and was hesitant to release it, particularly given the tension surrounding the election. However, the distributors did so, and the response has been positive.
