Following a recount, Patrick Yaw Boamah of the NPP was proclaimed the winner of the Okaikwei Central parliamentary seat, defeating Baba Sadiq of the NDC.
The Okaikwei Central constituency saw a dramatic change in representation in the 2024 parliamentary elections. The National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s Abdulai Abu Baba Abubakar Sadiq was first proclaimed the victor, receiving 15,383 votes over the incumbent Patrick Yaw Boamah's 14,949 votes. But after reviewing the results, the Electoral Commission (EC) changed its mind. After defeating Sadiq, Patrick Yaw Boamah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was proclaimed the victor.
Born on September 19, 1974, Boamah is a lawyer by profession and has a Master's degree in International Affairs from the University of Ghana. He has held positions in Parliament as a member of the Appointments Committee, the Foreign Affairs Committee, and the Vice Chairperson of the Finance Committee. Concerns about disparities in the first count sparked the recollection process. Boamah underlined his dedication to providing efficient community service and thanked the people for their support. During the remembrance, Baba Sadiq, the candidate for the NDC, also expressed concerns about the EC officials' injustice.
