Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, the member of parliament for the Assin Central Constituency, has expressed dissatisfaction at what he sees as a lack of acknowledgment for his efforts to the New Patriotic Party's victory in the Northern area during the most recent elections. According to Kennedy Agyapong, he personally supported 17 candidates in the Northern Region, and 16 of them won. He cited an example where his engagement caused votes to rise from 4,000 to 17,000, demonstrating how his efforts greatly boosted the party's vote margins in numerous areas. "How much would we have received if I hadn't run? We won wherever I went to campaign," he stated, adding that his cunning and kindness were crucial to the party's success.
Kennedy Agyapong described his gifts, which included giving the Mion head a brand-new pickup truck, giving 20 corn mill machines to Farouk Mahama, and giving 200 cedis to each of the women who attended a Mion candidate's campaign rally. In an attempt to increase party support, he also disclosed that he was constructing a community school. Kennedy Agyapong claimed to have contributed trucks to the local MPs' campaign in Tolon. Despite his efforts, he bemoaned the fact that others now take the credit for the NPP's success in the Northern region, rather than his own.
"I worked for the party in the North, but no one in the North gave me credit for it. They blame only one candidate for their success in the north," he said, promising never to try the same thing again in elections to come. He claimed that his sacrifices for other places went unnoticed and expressed regret for not concentrating on his own electorate.
