Invisible Force Member Says Wontumi Is to Blame for NPP's Ashanti Region Loss [Audio]

Following the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) poor showing in the Ashanti Region during the 2024 elections, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has been the target of harsh criticism. In an interview, Alhassan Seidu, better known as Odenkey, a member of the NPP's Invisible Forces, claimed that Wontumi's leadership was a major factor in the party's demise in its historic heartland. Odenkey called Wontumi a “satan to the Ashanti Region” when speaking with Agya Wusu on Radio XYZ, accusing him of spoiling the NPP alongside former President Akufo-Addo.

He said that because of his affiliation with Wontumi, he barely avoided death, illustrating the severe rifts inside the group. He also disclosed plans for a protest against Wontumi and threatened to confront him if he tried to go to the regional headquarters of the party. The member of the Invisible Force accused Wontumi of being conceited and of disregarding party protocol while in power. Odenkey claims that one factor in the party's electoral defeat was Wontumi's disregard for internal procedures. Additionally, he said that Wontumi was frugal and would only give party loyalists GHC 50 in passing.

According to Odenkey, the Meccan imams predicted the party's defeat in the 2024 elections, stating that only a candidate such as Alan Kyerematen could have gained victory. He claimed that Osman Masawudu, also known as Chairman Buga, the National Third Vice Chairman of the NPP, and other notable NPP members were aware of this prophecy but did nothing about it. Wontumi was also charged by the vocal party member of showing contempt towards prominent NPP members, including Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, widely known as NAPO. These comments reveal a rising dissatisfaction among party members, which may cause more internal strife as the NPP plans its next move.
