According to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) presidential candidate, no presidential contender has ever announced their defeat without the EC making a statement.

Dr. Bawumia claims he disregarded his team's recommendation not to declare defeat before the 2024 elections.

"Some of the people on my team were saying you can't go out to concede," Dr. Bawumia said, adding that they weren't sure if all the data was correct.

"Even though the Electoral Commission had not yet made a decision, some of my people in my team were saying you can't go out to concede, we don't know if all this data is right, let's wait," Dr. Bawumia disclosed while addressing a gathering of people assembled at his home. plus everything else. Look, we know this data is accurate from our own system, you know, so if you wait, you'll increase tension and there may be violence because people will believe we're attempting to rig the election, I declared.

The notion that we are attempting to rig the election is what's coming. However, no one has ever surrendered an election without the EC making a public statement. There's a first time for everything, I told him.

"I will come out, I'll be the first person to concede even before the EC comes out," Dr. Bawumia stated, underscoring his commitment to the peace and stability of our nation.

Thus, I came out at nine in the morning and gave in right here, where we are now. When I spoke to the nation, I expressed my belief that, for the sake of peace and security, our democracy, and our economic climate, any violence deters potential investors and only serves to attract terrorists from our subregion, which is not what God intended for Ghana. He reaffirmed, "God desires a peaceful Ghana."

It has been reported on social media platform X that the results of the 2024 presidential election have been gazetted by the Electoral Commission.

The results posted on social media claimed John Mahama of the NDC secured 57.7% while Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP secured just 38.2% in the recent December polls.
