Joseph Agemba, an accused National Security operator at the Jubilee House, has been charged in an Accra Circuit Court with scamming 46 people of GHC1,096,500 under the guise of gaining them jobs in Ghana's security services.

Agemba, who is also a dealer, is accused of not keeping his promises.

In addition to the alleged recruitment scam, he is accused of taking money from two people and promising to get them visas to the United States and Germany, but failing to deliver.

Furthermore, Agemba is accused of obtaining additional monies from complainant Patience Solomon in order to purchase an auctioned car that he did not supply.

He is now facing seven counts of defrauding under false pretense.

Prosecutor Chief Jonas Lawer, representing Assistant Superintendent of Police Richard Amoah, reminded the court that new allegations from more victims were continuously being received.

As a result, the court, presided over by Mr. Isaac Addo, remanded Agemba in police custody to prevent any interference with the current inquiry.

Agemba is set to appear in court on December 27, 2024.

According to the prosecution, Agemba first approached Immigration Officer Patience Solomon in November 2023 after her husband identified him as an accused National Security operative.

Solomon was told that Agemba had access to protocol slots for recruitment into several security services, such as the Ghana Police Service, Immigration, Prisons, Armed Forces, and the Ghana Revenue Authority.

The fees ranged between GHC7,000 and GHC22,000.

"Believing his claims, Solomon introduced other acquaintances into the scheme," the prosecutor stated.

In sum, GHC1,931,000 was collected from 48 people for the alleged recruiting.

Furthermore, Agemba allegedly took GHC54,000 for the auctioned vehicle transaction and GHC87,000 for visa processing from two people, neither of which he fulfilled.

Solomon denounced Agemba to the police after he realized the transactions were fake, which resulted in his arrest.
