Ato Forson blamed the NPP's defeat on poor governance and economic mismanagement.

Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minority Leader in Parliament, claims that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lost the December 7 general elections because Ghanaians punished them for poor leadership and economic policies.

During a parliamentary session on Monday, December 16, Ato Forson stated that the election results were a powerful message from the people to lawmakers.

According to him, Ghanaians were dissatisfied with way the NPP had run the country in previous years and chose to vote against them.

He accused the NPP government of being greedy, disrespectful, and treating Ghanaians without regard. He also highlighted how government officials acted as if they were above the law, which infuriated many voters. According to Ato Forson, this behavior widened the distance between the government and ordinary Ghanaians.

He also argued that concerns including as nepotism and corruption caused people to lose faith in the NPP leadership. The Minority Leader believes that these acts alienated the government from its constituents, who felt forgotten and irrelevant.

He believes that the election results should serve as a reminder to politicians that Ghanaians have the ability to reward or punish those in authority. He said what happened to the NPP teaches other politicians not to take the people for granted.
