There was drama in an Accra Circuit Court when an accused person chose to perform for the court before his case was decided.
Before the judgment was pronounced, Francis Lamptey, a worker, sang two compassion hymns he had prepared.
"Court two judge, grant me justice, court judge grant me freedom…," he was chanting.
When the judgment was over, Lamptey performed two songs for the court.
Lamptey was charged with inflicting hurt and pleaded not guilty.
At the conclusion of the trial, the trial judge, Mr Isaac Addo, acquitted and released him on the allegation of inflicting hurt.
After hearing his acquittal, Lamptey bowed down and thanked the trial judge, saying, "God bless you, my Lord, thank you, my Lord."
The trial judge advised him to be cautious in his attempts.
Mr Addo noted in his decision that the prosecution only summoned one witness: the case investigator.
After testifying, the accused did not call any witnesses.
According to the court, neither the complainant nor the victim appeared to testify.
The court determined that the defense had established significant doubts about the prosecution's case, leading to his acquittal and discharge.
Lamptey is accused of harming Ayuba Shaibu by stabbing him in the left cheek with a knife on August 25, 2024, following a heated dispute at Lashibi Shalom Spot in Tema West Municipality.
