John Dumelo, the newly elected Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, has begun his tenure by offering free bus rides for University of Ghana, Legon students returning home for the Christmas holidays.
The gesture is a show of appreciation for the students' enormous support during the December 7 parliamentary elections, in which Dumelo won a landslide victory.
His victory, which was particularly strong in voting stations around the University of Ghana, unseats the incumbent MP, Lydia Alhassan, and fulfills his dream to represent the Constituency in parliament.
The free bus service will begin on Saturday, December 21, 2024, and will travel to various cities, including Kumasi, Ejisu, Konongo, Ho, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Winneba, and Elmina.
The busses will depart from the Volta Hall parking lot, which serves as the students' designated meeting place.
In a social media statement, Dumelo showed his gratitude to the students, writing, "Dear Legon students, let me drive you home free for your Christmas holidays.
You know I dey 4 u! Freeeeeeee Buses for all students!”
