On Friday, December 27, 2024, three individuals were sadly killed when a bus going from Takoradi to Accra went off the road and overturned near the Aggrey Memorial School crossroads in Cape Coast.
The bus, registered GW 6231-21, was carrying roughly 53 passengers when it collapsed, trapping several of them beneath the wreckage.
Twenty-three injured passengers are currently being treated at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, while nine others were treated and discharged with less serious injuries.
Abdul Wasiu Hudu, the Central Regional Public Relations Officer for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), stated that the event occurred about 6:48 a.m. He applauded the joint efforts of GNFS troops, police, and emergency medical teams in rescuing survivors and transporting them to adjacent hospitals, including the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital and the University of Cape Coast Hospital.
Unfortunately, three of the passengers were pronounced deceased upon arrival at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
