Shut up when Mahama assumes office: Abeiku Santana to Prof. Martey and others

Abeiku Santana, a media personality, has issued a strong warning to important persons, including Rev Professor Emmanuel Martey, former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, not to criticise President-elect John Dramani Mahama once he takes office.

According to Abeiku Santana, Prof. Martey was harshly critical of Mahama during his previous presidency but has been mostly mute during President Akufo-Addo's administration.

He also targeted the Council of State, accusing its members of neglecting to hold the Akufo-Addo administration accountable despite vocally opposing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) when in power.

"Council of State, Prof. Martey, we are waiting to see if you would speak once Mahama assumes office. When Mahama takes power, all those who were silent throughout Akufo-Addo's eight years in office should shut up and sit down. Abeiku Santana fumed, "If you open your mouth, the youth will deal with you because some prominent people have lost their respect."

Prof. Martey, who has a history of criticizing regimes, has avoided national political conversation since President Akufo-Addo took office.

It is also worth noting that in 2016, Prof. Martey made news when he disclosed that some politicians tried to bribe him with $100,000, a mansion in Trasaaco, and a V8 automobile, among other things, in exchange for his quiet.

Although he refused to name the individuals involved, his charges provoked widespread outrage against the then-Mahama administration, which many feel contributed to the NDC's defeat in the 2016 elections.
