Former President and NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama has stated that the youth of Ghana do not have time to experiment with new leaders in the upcoming 2024 general election.
He said this at the Jubilee Park in Tamale in the Northern Region at the official launch of the NDC’s campaign on July 27, 2024.
In his speech, Mahama recounted the past promises of the previous government, noting, "Several years ago somebody came and said 'try me.' The result is what we are seeing today."
He further criticised the current political promises of the ruling party, stating, "Today another person has come and he's also saying 'try me.' And he's saying the same things the one who has helped to put us in this ditch was saying eight years ago."
Mahama emphasised that the youth cannot afford to waste another four years on unproven leadership, adding that they would rather choose someone with experience.
"The youth of this country don't have four years to waste. They are in a hurry to create the opportunities that will make them live a dignified life.
"The youth of this country want an experienced hand. They want a safe pair of hands. They want a hand that they have seen," Mahama stated.
