Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyeremanteng is innocent of allegations his ministry charged expatriates between $25,000 and $100,000 respectively to sit close to the President at the controversial Millennium Awards ceremony held recently.

“Alan Kyeremateng is not aware. It happened to him but he is not part. …everything was between the organizers and the Flagstaff House “Minority Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Alex Adomako-Mensah defended

According to him, the sector minister only slept on his job thus, he could be innocent of those allegations levelled against the government.

“People are drawing him into it because he is the sector minister. …he is innocent”, the member of Parliamentary Select Committee on Finance insisted on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM morning show.

Trades and Industry Minister, Alan Kyeramaten has officially responded to the query by the Office of President over the role his ministry played in the collection of $100,000 from some expatriate businessmen and women and has since been exonerated of any wrongdoing.

The money according to organisers was the cost the expatriates had to incur for the chance to sit on the same table as the President at an event recently which they later claimed was for fundraising.

News of the cash-for-seat transaction caused a stir on social media, with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) calling it an act of corruption.
