18-year-old SHS student jailed 15 years for robbery - Report

An 18-year-old Adanwomase Senior High School student, Gabriel Osei Kwame, has received a 15-year sentence from the Kumasi Circuit Court in the Ashanti Region for robbery, as reported by Angel TV.

The report said that Gabriel assaulted his female teacher, Matilda Boatemaa, at her home with a knife, making off with valuable items and foodstuff.

He is said to have stolen GH¢570 in cash, a bag of rice, a mobile phone, and important documents belonging to the teacher.

Gabriel admitted guilt when presented in court but did not disclose who received the stolen goods.

The judge, unimpressed by his actions, imposed a 15-year prison term with hard labour on him, the report indicated.

Angel TV reporter, Kwesi Oppong, provided the following account:

"He confronted a female teacher with a knife, seizing her rice and stew. He also took GH¢570, an Infinix Hot 9 mobile phone valued at GH¢700, and some documents. Arrested by the police, he confessed to selling the items but wouldn't identify the buyers.

"In court, he acknowledged the charges but again kept the buyers' identities secret. The judge then sentenced him to 15 years of hard labor, intending to teach him a lesson."
