Former Information Minister, Mustapha Hamid
The Minister for Inner City and Zongo Development, Dr. Mustapha Hamid has stated that the New Patriotic Party will have an easy job in 2020 if former President John Mahama is elected the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress.
The former president has declared his intention to lead the NDC as its flagbearer for the 2020 elections.
Mr. Mahama is being contested by 10 other stalwarts of the party including second deputy Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, former Trades minister Ekwow Spio- Garbrah, former NHIA boss Sylvester Mensah and former UPSA Vice Chancellor Joshua Alabi for the flagbearership position scheduled for December this year.
Several people including the founder of the African University College of Communications (AUCC) Kojo Yankah have appealed to former President John Mahama to reconsider his decision to contest the Presidency again.
Speaking on Morning Starr Tuesday, the former Information Minister said the NPP will be glad if the former President is chosen as flagbearer to lead the NDC.
“We pray that John Mahama gets to lead the NDC in 2020. We want the easier target and he will be the best bet…he has a record and he will tell us if his record is enough to close the 1 million gap.”
