2020 Polls: We’ll force NDC to defend their legacy; dirty politics over – Dr. Boako

Economic Advisor to the Vice President, Dr. Gideon Boako has said his Boss seeks to draw the main opposition NDC along a path of decent, responsible and clean political campaign in the run-up to the 2020 general elections instead of its usual propaganda.

“They[NDC] don’t understand the psychology of Bawumia; if they do they will appreciate the basis of his legacy challenge he’s thrown to Mahama,” Dr. Boako said in an interview on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM Thursday.

He noted that all the political watchers have seen a change in the political discourse, and as a result of that, the Vice President will force the NDC to campaign on policy issues.

“If you give them the playing field in the gutters they will beat you, but approaching 2020, we want to change the cycle of campaign and push them to defend their records.” he stated.

His comment follows the NDC’s response to Dr. Bawumia asking the Vice President to also name just one legacy he[Bawumia] has secured for the people in the North, while in office, “aside the expired goods he shared that nearly killed our people”

Regional Communication Officer for the Savannah Region, Malik Basintelle told Kasapa 102.5 FM “we will add 1000 more to the 75 we’ve mentioned, if he also point to just one of his legacies.”

But Dr. Boako reacting to this said the posture of the NDC amply suggests that “if you put them to strict proof they would be found wanting”.

He said the main opposition NDC is missing the point about this challenge because they’d taken Dr. Bawumia for granted and it will worry them.

Dr. Bawumia’s Spokesperson argued that the unpopular Savannah Accelerated Development Authority( SADA) should have been a big legacy to them, but was a wasted opportunity for northern development under former President Mahama.

“…They are ashamed to name it because of how badly it was handled under their regime,” he added.

For him, the skewed and one-sided campaign is over in the run-up to the 2020 elections, asking the NDC to fall in line and defend their legacies.
