Two hundred and forty-nine new voters have been registered in the Kpone -Katamanso Municipality of the Greater Accra Region after two days of the Limited Voter's Registration currently underway in the country.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Doris Emefa Agbezuhlor, Municipal Election Officer, noted that, the process has been very peaceful.
She explained that, the registrants had comported themselves very well at the municipal registration office.
One hundred and five people were registered on Monday while 144 were also captured on Tuesday, she said.
The Municipal Election Officer told the GNA that, other registration officials had been deployed to far-flung communities within the Municipality to register the eligible.
She was very optimistic that the process would be successful within the municipality.
The GNA observed that only agents of the two main political parties, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the main opposition party National Democratic Congress (NDC) were present at the Municipal Electoral Office in Kpone to monitor the process.
The Electoral Commission has projected to register 700,000 new voters in the 21 day exercise.
