6 Akufo-Addo projects he believes will win him election 2020

On December 7, 2020, Ghanaians will go to the polls to elect parliamentarians and a president. It will also be the country’s 8th elections under the fourth republic.

The incumbent, President Akufo-Addo will also hope he can beat his main contender, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama in the polls for a second time.

President Nana Addo is already urging Ghanaians to give him four more years based on what he has been able to achieve in the last three years.

He opined that the programmes and policies implemented by his government have put the country onto the path of progress and prosperity.

YEN.com.gh explores some of the programmes and policies that the Akufo-Addo led administration has taken that he so much believes will win him the 2020 presidential elections.

1. Free SHS

The Free SHS policy is the New Patriotic Party’s flagship programme which started in September 2017. The policy allows every child in Ghana who qualifies for, and is placed in a public Senior High School for his secondary education will have his/her fees absorbed by the government. It is arguably one government programme that everyone supports, although some people hold different views about the mode of implementation.

2. Nation Builders’ Corps

The Nation Builders’ Corps is another of the Akufo-Addo led government’s programme that is meant to reduce or address the unemployment menace in Ghana. The NPP says the NabCo has provided over hundred thousand jobs for unemployed graduates.

3. Planting for food and jobs

To revamp the agricultural sector, the government of Ghana under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo introduced a flagship policy called Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) in 2017. The main aim of the programme is to address the declining growth of agriculture in Ghana and also provide jobs for the youth.

4. 1D1F The One-District-One-Factory

(1D1F) policy is also an Akufo-Addo-Addo programme that is supposed to provide factories across the country. In December 2019, Nana Addo revealed that so far, some 58 factories are currently operational.

5. Zongo Development Fund

It is an NPP programme that seeks to provide funds to develop the Zongo communities across the country. The funds are used to address the major challenges of the people who lived in zongo.

6. 0ne constituency, one ambulance

President Akufo-Addo will commission, on January 28, 2020, 307 ambulances for use in fulfilment of the “1-Constituency-1-Ambulance pledge. In the health sector, the NPP has also provided drone technology, where drones have been introduced into the healthcare system to help deliver essential medicine, blood and blood products to remote communities.
