A Kumasi High Court has granted bail to three out of four suspects involved in the fatal shooting incident at the NDC party office in Kumasi.
They were granted a GHC100,000 bail in total with two sureties.
This was after an earlier application filed by lawyers of the accused persons in April was denied by the court.
A fourth suspect, Suleiman Hussein aka Akon, was also remanded into custody by an Asokwa Circuit Court on Tuesday, May 7, 2019.
The three suspects; Dauda Ibrahim, Abdul Ganiyu and Samuel Agyen, will, however, avail themselves to the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters on the first Monday of every month to aid the police in their investigations.
Speaking to reporters, Lawyer for the suspects, Evans Amankwaah maintained his clients are innocent.
While cautioning his clients to be law abiding, he pleaded with the family to exercise restraint and respect the court process.
“The court has given a detailed ruling about this whole matter and indeed justice has prevailed for this young men who have nothing to do with the issue that happened,” Mr. Amankwaah stressed.
He continued, “I would say that anybody who has lost a relative will not be in a happy mood but I disagree with the point of attacking my clients and myself. I am appealing to the family to exercise restraint and let the legal process work”.
He said the substantive case still holds and will continue on May 21, 2019 at the Asokwa District Court.
Police’s response to arresting suspects disappointing— Wasiu’s Family
Meanwhile, family of slain member of pro NDC group, The Hawks, wants officials of the Ghana Police Service to be cooperative regarding the arrests of persons who might have played a role in the murder of their relative.
They say they are not enthused with the manner the case is being handled by the Police service.
Narrating how they managed to arrest one of the suspects to Dailymailgh.com, a brother of the deceased, Tanko Idris said their efforts to arrest the suspect appeared useless because the police were reluctant to pursue the suspect.
He added that the family will, however, not relent until justice is served.
“We are ready to work with the police but the police must also be ready to help too. If we are giving the police with information they feel reluctant to work… we know where they are but we are not armed to go all out to arrest them. So we are begging the police to respond to our calls and give us attention,” Tanko Idris stressed.
