A retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Dr Benjamin Kwasi Agordzo, has averred that a Police Officer who has been demoralized is more dangerous than an armed robber.
Dr. Agordzo raised concerns about the number of police officers who have committed suicide in the past years, indicating that these police officers get depressed to the point that they end up taking their lives.
“A more dangerous person is someone who is mandated or authorized to hold a gun but due to some circumstances and issues he may be going through at his work place, that has demoralized or depressed him or her, he or she is more dangerous than an armed robber,” he warned.
He further berated the media for turning a blind eye to some issues going on in the Police Service but only showed concern about the job mandated to the police officers.
“A lot is going on in the Police Service. I might be retired but I know everything going on because I have my contacts. Go and see what is happening between the IGP and his Deputy”, he cited an instance.
He lamented on the bad treatment being meted out to serving police officers under the current regime.
According to him, the police has been portrayed as an institution without issues due to some public display by the leaders through social media photos but inwardly a lot is happening in the service.
