The Paramount Chief of the Ada Traditional Area and President of the Ada Traditional Council, Nene Abram Kabu Akuaku III, has issued interim directives against the Chief of Matsekope, Nene Ayiku Adjovu I, over his alleged failure to honour several invitations to appear before the paramountcy to resolve a dispute.
The directives, communicated in a letter signed by Nomo Jonathan Dokusto, Secretary and Recorder of the Ada Paramountcy, follow a complaint concerning insubordination and an alleged sale of land at Matsekope by Nene Ayiku Adjovu I.
According to the letter, the matter was referred to the Paramount Chief for resolution, prompting the constitution of a committee comprising Nene Okumo IV, Divisional Chief of the Dangbebiawe Clan, Nene Kpevu Brempong IV, Divisional Chief of the Kabiawe Kponor Clan, Nene Adela Haviatse Vleh II, Divisional Chief of the Kudzragbe Clan and Asafoatsengua Okisseh Asiedu Agbloe VI, Asafoatsengua of the Lomobiawe Clan.
However, the letter alleges that “Nene Ayiku Adjovu I failed, neglected or refused to honour several invitations from the Paramount Chief and the committee.”
It further states that no explanation or apology was provided for his alleged absences.
The letter describes the chief's repeated failure to attend the meetings as an act of disrespect towards the Paramount Chief and the Ada Traditional Council, as well as a breach of his customary oath to appear before the paramountcy whenever summoned.
Following the alleged non-compliance, the Paramount Chief has directed that Nene Ayiku Adjovu I “must not act or present himself as acting in the name or under the authority of Nene Abram Kabu Akuaku III or the paramount stool of the Ada Traditional Area.”
The letter also states that any authority previously delegated to the Matsekope chief to act on behalf of the paramountcy has been withdrawn.

Additionally, the Paramount Chief has indicated that he will not deal with Nene Ayiku Adjovu I in matters requiring the recognition, authority or participation of the paramount stool until the dispute has been determined.
The directives are presented in the letter as interim measures pending the determination of the matter.
