Addison Confesses:Time wasting is for Akufo-Addo to return

A Lead Counsel for Akufo-Addo, Dr. Bawumia, and Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey, in the on-going election petition case, Mr. Philip Addison, is reported to have confessed that he is deliberately wasting time cross-examining Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, because, he wants to buy time for Akufo-Addo to return from his sick leave to London.

Philip Addison is alleged to have made this confession after court proceedings on Thursday, 6 June 2013.

Addison is reported to have said that his attempt make Afari-Gyan produce Collation Sheets is part of the grand plan to waste the time of the court.

Apparently, the time-wasting antics is a direct result of strict instructions Akufo-Addo gave before flying out 10 days ago for emergency medical treatment in London.

Nana Akufo-Addo is reported to have told Addison to adopt that tactics in order to allow him (Akufo-Addo) to return to Ghana; sit in court, to watch Afari-Gyan grilled.

In the company of Akoto Ampaw, Frank Davies and some other lawyers on the side of the NPP, Philip Addison is alleged to have made the startling confession with a lot of glee.

The Informer’s sharp ears around the precincts of the Supreme Court caught Addison making the confession.

What it means is that, in typical NPP style, Addison is deliberately wasting the time of the court and indeed wasting the time of the whole country, just because he wants his master Nana Akufo-Addo to return from his sickbed and to show up in court.

For sure, Philip Addison, Akufo-Addo, Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey, Dr. Bawumia and their supporters, have decided to take the nation on a wild goose chase in pursuance of Akufo-Addo’s inordinate desire to become president “At all cost”.

For a fact, Philip Addison’s cross-examination has been nothing but a repetition of questions that he has already asked Dr. Afari-Gyan.

Indeed, the frustration of the 9 Supreme Court Justices is beginning to hit the roof as Addison continues to break every rule in the book.

The antics of Philip Addison fly in the face of the rules of court.

“Philip Addison is a perfect personification of unethical conduct in court, and he must be ashamed of himself”; one of the NDC lawyers said to this paper on condition of anonymity.

“Honestly, it is surprising that Philip Addison, a product of the Ghana Law School, is doing all the things that we were taught not to do in Law School. He is really disgracing the Ghana Law School, and he must bow down his head in shame”; the lawyer added.

“Where on earth would you hear that a competent lawyer worth his calling, will go to court and attempt to cross-examine a witness based on a law that has been repealed? Yet, Addison wanted to cross-examine Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Djan based on CI15 which has been repealed. This is very disgraceful and clear proof that he is just wasting the time of the court” another NDC legal brain opined to this paper.

Apart from wasting time on Dr. Afari-Gyan in order to bid Nana Addo’s return from his sick leave, Philip Addison is also doing what he is doing in the hope that he can frustrate Afari-Gyan and get him to lose his temper.

Apparently, part of the NPP’s strategy was to get Dr. Afari-Gyan to lose his temper in the witness box, so that, they can use it to ridicule and destroy the reputation of the Electoral Commissioner.

“The plan is to get him to flip the way he flipped on Oman FM a couple of weeks ago; that is why Addison is doing what he is doing”; this paper picked up from inside the NPP.

“If Addison can succeed in getting Dr. Afari-Gyan to lose his cool in the witness box, it would go a long way to fuel the propagandist agenda of our party, and that is what we are looking for,” the source said.

“We know we are not going to win the case, but if we are able to leave the court with Afari-Gyan’s image destroyed that would be enough compensation for Nana Addo,” the source added.

Akufo-Addo has apparently vowed to deal ruthlessly with Afari-Gyan, and the time-wasting and outright unnecessary antics of Philip Addison was aimed at tempting Afari-Gyan to fall for Akufo-Addo’s bait.
