The Afigya Kwabre South Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has indicated that it will partner office of the Electoral Commission (EC) to police and protect ballots from the day of special voting till the ballots are counted.

This is to allow the party keep an eye on the ballots from December 1 to December 7, 2016 in its desire to "ensure free, fair and transparent process as far as the Special Voting is concerned".

In a letter dated November 21, 2016 and written to the Afigya Kwabre District Director of the EC by the constituency Chairman, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah the decision would help by erasing any shred of doubt that is likely to arise in the electioneering and preventing it from making it credible.

The first paragraph of the letter, a copy of which is within the possession of the Daily Graphic states that: "Afigya Kwabre South Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) writes to inform your outfit that we will police and protect the special voting, right from voting process through its counting to the point of been kept at whatever place".

However, when contacted the Afigya Kwabre District Director of the EC, Kofi Sakyi Boampong acknowledged receipt of a letter of a sort.

He said the EC had no worries at all if the NPP's interest is to join the police to keep an eye on ballot box on special voting till counting is done on December 7.
