Lawyer Kwame Jantuah, a senior member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has raised concerns about President Akufo-Addo’s credibility, citing inconsistencies in his words and actions.
“The president said he’s put his presidency on the line to tackle Galamsey, but has he done so?” Mr. Jantuah asked on the Weekly Review Segment on Starr FM with Lantam Papanko.
“Galamsey has reached our roads, hasn’t it? He said there would be no haircuts, but we’re experiencing economic hardship.”
Mr. Jantuah also questioned the President’s response to the ‘Agyapadie’ document. “If the president feels his opponents are defaming him, he should take them to court. But he can’t, because the document’s contents are too similar to what’s happening in the country.”
The lawyer criticized the government’s implementation of policies, saying, “Some policies are fantastic, like Planting for Food and Jobs, but have they been implemented? That’s the challenge. That’s what brings the question of what he says – is it true or is it false?”
Mr. Jantuah emphasized that the President’s words should be truthful, as he is a servant of the people. “You don’t just take anybody to be President. If the people have invested their trust in you to go and take care of the country’s finances and the country as an entity, you should do anything to do it.”
He noted that many Ghanaians, including doctors and nurses, are leaving the country due to economic hardship. “What is happening in this particular regime? Are we not having quite a lot of people leaving this country? Is it not true?”
Mr. Jantuah concluded, “I believe the document is true. Nobody can convince me otherwise. The president’s response to it and other issues raises questions about his credibility.”
