Member of Parliament (MP) for Sagnarigu Constituency, Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini has downplayed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s State of Nation Address (SONA).
According to Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini who was reacting to President Akufo-Addo’s SONA, instead of the President delivering a State of the Nation Address – he rather delivered a state of lamentation.
“The President was engaged in a state of lamentation. In fact he himself realized the lamentations were too many … He admitted he was not on track so he brought himself back and said well the people of this country did not vote for him to come and pour these lamentations on them but to come and fix the problems,” he explained.
The Sagnarigu Legislator questioned how the same government which promised Ghanaians of immediate relief while in opposition could turn up and asked the same people who voted for them to fix the problems of this country to be prepared for hardships ahead.
“This is the government which promised the good people of this country that they were undergoing hardship under NDC – and when it comes into power almost immediately there will be relief for the people. But he told the people to brace themselves for hard and difficult times ahead.”
He added, “From the onset, we want people who are truthful, transparent and honest to Ghanaians. If you tell me you don’t know the state of the nation when you were making those promises, do you expect Ghanaians to take you serious?”
Touching on the free education policy, the MP said no Ghanaian government should take credit for free education policy in the country because it is a constitutional right that the previous Mahama administration was also committed to implementing.
