The two addressed a joint press conference after their meeting.

Diomaye Faye has since departed Ghana and returned to Dakar.

Since taking office in March, he has visited almost half of Senegal's West African neighbours from The Gambia, Mauritania, Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau and Nigeria.

President Akufo-Addo's post on Diomaye Faye's visit:

On Friday, 17th May 2024, I welcomed the new President of the Republic of Senegal, His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Faye, to Jubilee House, the seat of our nation's presidency. His visit to Ghana marks a significant milestone in the enduring friendship and cooperation between our two nations.

During President Faye's visit, we discussed strengthening our bilateral relations, enhancing economic cooperation, and exploring new avenues for collaboration in various sectors, including trade, education, and technology.

Our shared commitment to democratic values and regional stability was also a key topic of our dialogue.

Ghana and Senegal have a rich history of partnership and mutual support, and this visit has further solidified our bonds of brotherhood and shared progress.
