Akufo-Addo is a liability to Rule of Law – NDC

President Akufo-Addo’s public posture on the hooliganism by NPP thugs-Delta Force has sent wrong signals to the Judiciary and law enforcement agencies, the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) has said.

Addressing a Press conference on Wednesday, Chairman of the Party, Mr Kofi Portuphy said”as a Lawyer President Akufo-Addo is an officer of the court. He should therefore be concerned, when the court is physically attacked and a Presiding Judge threatened, but President Nana Addo doesn’t seem to care.”

President Akufo-Addo has emphasized his commitment to serve Ghana under conditions of the Rule of law.

Notwithstanding his regard for civility and the Rule of law, the President has had a terrible moment dealing with security issues surging, following the mayhem caused by an affiliate NPP vigilante group-Delta Force.

Commenting on the fall out from the thuggery by NPP’s Delta Force, the NDC contends that its regrettable the President chose to pontificate on the rule of law rather than taking austerity measures to deal with the mayhem perpetrated by the private security arm of the NPP.

Mr. Kofi Portuphy said the ruling by a Kumasi based court in connection with the Delta Force 13 saga “will certainly have grave ramifications for law and order in this country” and they “now have every reason to believe that the Akufo-Addo government is complicit in the violence being unleashed by Delta Force, Invincible Forces, Kandahar, and the likes”.

He added: “How else do we interpret the decision of the Kumasi Court to treat so lightly violent elements who have escaped lawful custody? That ruling was shambolic and theatrical and only compounds the national disgrace that Prof Martey (former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana) has described”.
