President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended an invitation to the 524 African diasporans granted Ghanaian citizenship to contribute to the nation's progress and development.
Speaking at a ceremony in Accra on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, the President urged the new citizens to channel their diverse skills and expertise into sectors such as education, healthcare, technology, and the arts, contributing to Ghana's development and growth.
"I know you have skills, knowledge and experience from all corners of the world, you excel in fields like education, healthcare, the arts and what you bring to Ghana enriches us all. It reminds us that our potential as a nation is limitless. I encourage you to find ways to contribute to Ghana's growth and progress," he stated.
The President further described granting citizenship as more than a legal status.
"To be Ghanaian, is more of a title than a passport. It is a way of life. It means caring for one another. Holding fast to peace and believing in equity. These are values we hold to our heart as you join as citizens.
"I invite you to take these values to heart too. Ghana has long stood as a beacon of democracy in Africa and with your support, we hope to continue leading by example. Showing what it means to a people united by shared ideas and a common goal," he noted.
