Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has lost his credibility after 100 days in office, the Deputy General-Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has said.
According to him, Dr Bawumia should discard any ambitions of leading the NPP if he has such plans, because by 2020, the NDC and Ghanaians would have exposed all his “lies”.
Mr Anyidoho’s comment follows research conducted by the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana on why the NDC lost the 2016 election. According to the study, the Bawumia factor contributed to the victory of the NPP.
Mr Anyidoho, reacting to the study, told host Moro Awudu on the Executive Breakfast Show (EBS) on Class91.3FM on Friday, 28 April: “Today, Bawumia has no credibility left.
“When I was going after him on the voters’ register and hitting hard at his credibility, did you ever hear Dr Bawumia come out once to defend himself? They chose to pretend that they were not listening to what I was saying. He held his press conferences, he’s a PhD holder, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana and speculates on the cedi. He would do all kinds of things, but as we speak today he’s now Vice President and within 100 days he’s lost almost all his credibility.”
Mr Anyidoho added: “When you listen to the young nurses who went picketing and had to sleep at the Ministry of Health, they are telling you that Bawumia has lied. You come out to come and say you’ve employed over 11,000 nurses and the people have come out to say:
‘It is not true because we are still at home.’ You come out and say nurses’ application forms are selling at a certain rate but it has now dropped, but it is not true, a plethora of lies. When he was in opposition he said we were incompetent but now the diction has changed. You criticise him and he says you are ignorant, but the ignorant Ghanaians will continue to expose the lies of Bawumia and by the time it’s 2020, Bawumia would be finished, he would be damaged. If he has any dream of leading the NPP in future he should forget it.”
