Ghanaians were thrown into a state of shock when the unpleasant news of the passing away of former Vice president Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur was announced.
Amissah-Arthur reportedly collapsed during a routine workout session at the Airforce Gym on June 29 and was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital where he died.
The funeral proceedings, which starts today, is being held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) where his remains have been laid in state for public viewing.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has announced the temporary closure of some roads in the capital today and tomorrow.
Affected roads are the Osu Cemetery Traffic Light, on the Lokko Street, Castle Road, from AU circle to Osu Cemetry Traffic Light.
A statement from the Police Service said: “unmarked vehicles would not be permitted to park or drive through these roads.”
The late Amissah-Arthur will be laid to rest tomorrow at the Military cemetery in Accra.
He is survived by a wife and two children.
