Andre Ayew had multiple offers before deciding to stay at Swansea City - Steve Cooper
Swansea City manager Steve Cooper has revealed Andre Ayew turned down several offers to stay with the club.
The 29-year-old had been linked with a move away from the club during the summer after ending his loan spell at Fenerbahce.
However, the Ghana captain opted to stick around the Liberty stadium.
And Swansea City boss Steve Cooper has revealed the Ghana international wanted to stay with the Championship side despite receiving multiple offers.
"He had offers and he could have gone but the most important thing to say is that he wanted to stay, he decided to stay because he believes in what we're doing an want to part of it." he said
The Ghana international has been a key part of Swansea's unbeaten start to the season under new boss Cooper, which sees them top of the table ahead of Saturday's home game with Nottingham Forest.
Ayew returned to Liberty Stadium in 2018 but after their relegation, he joined Fenerbahce on loan. However, his performances with the Super Lig outfit were not substantial enough to earn him a permanent deal with the Turkish club.
Despite being linked with a move to Lazio, Werder Bremen, Schalke 04 and Sampdoria, the 29-year-old disclosed he is happy in Wales and that will be a big boost for Steve Cooper’s English top-flight chasing team.
