Starr News has learnt that some of the disgruntled NDC youth who are opposing the selection of Vice President Kwesi Amissah- Arthur as running mate to President John Mahama are receiving threatening messages.

Leaders of the 'Concerned Youth for Mahama' who were rooting for Foreign Affairs Minister Hanna Tetteh claim they have been threatened.

Members of another group 'The Volta Youth for Development' which has described Amissah-Arthur as incompetent also claim that they have received threatening messages.

Spokesperson for the group Prosper Ndekor told Starr News their lives are in danger.

“I am going through a lot of stress, people are calling me, threatening me; they will come after me. I don’t think this is the NDC that Rawlings founded. The vice President is incompetent and his selection will not help the party,” he stated.

Meanwhile, President John Mahama has said he retained the former governor of the Central Bank as his running mate because he is hardworking and capable.

"I must go into the 2016 elections with a Running Mate. I have had no difficulties settling on my hardworking Vice President as my Running Mate for the Second Term.

“I am happy to nominate His Excellency Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur as my Running Mate for the 2016 Presidential elections".
