A major shake-up of the police hierarchy by the Inspector General of Police, David Asante–Apeatu in the wake of the recent robbery attacks on individuals and some financial institutions has seen COP Dr George Akuffo Dampare and COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno moved to other units.
Dr Dampare, who is the Director-General in-charge of Police Operations at the police headquarters, has been moved to Research and Planning as Director-General.
DCOP Simon Afeku, Eastern Regional Commander, takes over Dr Dampare’s position as Director-General in-charge of Operations, headquarters.
COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, Director-General, Special Duties, goes to Police Intelligence Directorate as Director-General.
COP Reverend David Nenyi Ampah-Bennin, Central Regional Commander, takes the place of COP Yohuno.
DCOP George Tuffour, Tema Regional Commander, is exchanging positions with DCOP Nana Asomah Hinneh, Volta Regional Commander, while DCOP Paul Manly Awini, Director-General in-charge of Private Security Operations, moves to the Central Region as Commander.
DCOP Alphonse Adu Amankwa of the Central MTTD moves to the Eastern Region as Commander, whereas ACP Anderson OFosu–Ackaah, Commandant of the Police Academy, who was once the Commander in-charge of Central MTTD, goes back to head the place.
ACP Dr Sayibu Pabi Gariba, PIPS, National Headquarters, heads operations as Director, while ACP Eric Winful, Operations, moves to the Projects Unit as Director.
