New Crusading Guide editor-in-chief Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has given the Ashanti Regional Police Command two days to arrest a group of well-built men believed to be members of the Delta Force, a private security arm of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), or he petitions President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to reshuffle the command.

This comes after members of the Delta Force on Friday 24 March stormed the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council to stop Mr George Agyei, who has been appointed as the regional security coordinator, from performing his duties.

According to members of the party’s private security arm, they cannot work with Mr Agyei since he is not native to the region.

Mr Agyei was allegedly manhandled and dragged from his office, but was saved by police officers who were called in to maintain calm.

Reacting to this development on Newsfile on Multi TV on Saturday 25 March, Mr Baako called on the police to act with a sense of urgency.

“Within the next 24 to 48 hours, I plead with the Ashanti Regional Police Command, they must effect some arrest and they must let the law work, otherwise I make an appeal to the president [that] he should quickly reshuffle the Ashanti Regional Police Command, including the head,” he told show host Samson Lardy Anyenini.

Meanwhile, North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has advocated the disbandment of vigilante political parties in the country. According to him, their existence is illegal and against the constitution.
