Chief Scribe of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia has stated that he will not join the bandwagon of trying the General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Dr Mensa Otabil in the media.
According to him, the matter is still under investigations by the Economic and Organize Crime Office (EOCO) in collaboration with the Bank of Ghana and as an Investment Banker himself, he will be the last to pass judgement on the Man of God.
Dr Otabil was the Board Chairman of the Capital Bank prior to its collapse a year ago with sections calling for his head in the aftermath of what culminated to the take over of the bank by GCB Bank Limited after the Central Bank revoked its license.
The Man of God last week, was forced to break his silence following allegations and counter allegations over his role in the matter and how he was not directly involved in the day-to-day running of the defunct bank.
“My position was a non-executive role. I was therefore not involved in the day-to-day management and operations of the Bank”, he said.
Speaking to Accra-based Okay Fm late last week in an interview MyNewsGh.com monitored, Mr Asiedu Nketia advised Ghanaians from passing judgement on the man when the full facts on the matter are yet to be made public.
“I am an investment banker I will not want to try him in the media. Let us wait for EOCO and the Bank of Ghana to make the facts public before we can begin talking about the matter. I will urge everyone to stop the media trial”, he admonished.
