Ashanti Regional Minister-designate promises economic growth and completion of projects

The Ashanti Region’s newly appointed Minister-Designate, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, is wasting no time setting the tone for his tenure under President John Dramani Mahama.

In an interview on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM, monitored by MyNewsGH, Dr. Amoakohene outlined his commitment to reviving and completing key development projects, with the Asanteman Development Fund as his primary initiative.

Reflecting on his extensive engagement with local communities leading up to the 2024 elections, the new minister shared insights into the region’s pressing needs.

“During my interactions with the people, I was struck by their desire for economic stability and a better quality of life,” Dr. Amoakohene said, recalling conversations with residents from diverse communities.

He noted that economic concerns, particularly the rising cost of living, were a consistent theme during these encounters.

Dr. Amoakohene expressed a clear determination to address these concerns.

“The people are eager for financial opportunities that will stimulate business and create jobs. I am committed to ensuring that we create avenues for sustainable economic growth,” he declared.

Beyond tackling the region’s immediate economic challenges, the new minister also outlined plans to complete unfinished projects left in limbo by previous administrations.

“It is imperative that we finish what was started. Numerous projects were abandoned, but under my leadership, we will ensure their completion,” he affirmed. The Asanteman Development Fund, which he plans to spearhead, will be central to this effort.

Dr. Amoakohene also highlighted his focus on vital healthcare infrastructure, notably the long-delayed Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital project.

“This is a significant project for the people of the Ashanti Region. It has been neglected for too long, and I intend to work closely with the government to ensure its completion,” he assured.

Determined to break away from the common political tradition of disregarding ongoing projects initiated by previous governments, Dr. Amoakohene is committed to delivering tangible results that will positively impact the region.
