Ask Cadman Mills what killed late Prof Mills - Kwesi Pratt tells critics

The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Junior, has asked those who wish to know what exactly killed the late President John Evans Atta Mills to ask his brother, Dr. Cadman Mills.

He noted that Dr. Cadman Mills was the one who took delivery of the autopsy report on the late president.

Speaking on Adom FM’s “Dwaso Nsem” Morning Show, he told host Blessed Godsbrain Smart, aka Captain Smart that the late president’s family appointed Dr. Cadman Mills to receive the postmortem report on their behalf, so the family is fully aware of what killed the late president.

Since the passing away of President John Evans Atta Mills on Tuesday 24th July, 2012, some Ghanaians have been calling on President John Mahama to inform Ghanaians about the circumstances that led to the untimely death of the former president.

As the country marked the first anniversary for the late president’s demise, those calls have been revived, with more people calling for a full disclosure of what led to the late president's demise.

Pratt said Ghanaians should stop looking at the sitting president for answers because the answers are with Dr. Cadman Mills.

He said Ghana had lost other heads of states and presidents such as Dr. Hilla Limann, Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia, Edward Akufo-Addo and even Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, but no one had asked to see the postmortem reports of any of those.

Another panel member, who is also a Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkoranza North, Major Derek Oduro rtd, disagreed with Pratt, saying late President Mills was the first to have died as Ghana’s sitting president, so his case cannot be compared with that of other former presidents.

Major Oduro is therefore insisting that government must tell Ghanaians the circumstances that led to the late president’s demise.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Ekumfi Mmobroto in the Central Region, Nana Odi Akopa Arko says the people of Ekumfi District, the hometown of the late president have been neglected by the current government and they are ‘hungry’.

Nana Arko said since the demise of the late president, his successor and current President John Dramani Mahama has neglected the people of Ekumfi in spite of the several promises from government following President Mills’ death.

He said the entire Ekumfi district, consisting of 53 towns and villages cannot boast of a single tarred road, no proper source of potable water, only one Senior High School and massive unemployment.

“The main source of employment in the area is fishing, so lots of people who are not in fishing do not have jobs to do,” he said.

The Chief is, therefore, calling on President Mahama to take advantage of the first anniversary of the late president’s death and honour him by sending some development projects to Ekumfi.

Meanwhile, the Central Regional Minister, Mr. Samuel Sarpong, has denied the chief’s allegation that the area has been neglected, saying that government is following a development plan it inherited from the late president for the development of Ekumfi.

He said government had already awarded contracts for the reconstruction of roads in the area, adding that the area will also benefit from the 200 SHS government has promised to build, and some investors have also shown interest in building a sugar cane factor in the area.
