Atuabo Gas Processing Plant ready to be commissioned

The Petroleum Commission (PC) and the Energy Commission (EC) have given the Ghana Gas Company Limited (GGCL) the go ahead to commission the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant, Mr. Emmanuel Moses, Head of the Construction Department of the GGCL, said on Wednesday.

He said, “The good news is that the PC and EC have given the GGCL the permit to commission the completed Atuabo Processing Plant”.

Mr. Moses said the GGCL is to begin work to connect the off-shore pipelines to the Jubilee Fields for raw gas which would take about one week to complete.

He was briefing members of the Western Regional Security Council (REGSEC) including Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister and his Deputy, Mr. Alfred Ekow Gyan, during a visit to the plant at Atuabo.

Mr. Moses said processed “Lead gas” would be sent through on-shore pipelines from Atuabo to the Thermal Plant at Aboadze near Takoradi for electricity generation while Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) would also be processed for domestic use.

He said survey of the plant has been completed and warning signs have been installed at vantage areas.

Mr. Moses said safety zones would be established at the plant and “Intrusion security system” would be put in place to minimize threats to the plant.
