The leadership of the political parties and their supporters have been reminded to show high sense of responsibility and avoid any missteps as the nation edges closer to general election.

Mr. Wilberforce Zangina, the Afigya-Kwabre District Director of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE), said it was vital for everybody to carefully weigh the implication of their actions and inactions on the unity and stability of the nation.

They should commit to working together – accept to effectively play their expected roles, to ensure that the December 07, was successful.

He was speaking at a forum held in Kodie - to provide opportunity for candidates contesting the parliamentary election in the Afigya-Kwabre South constituency, to share their development vision with voters.

The programme was organized by the Commission with support from the European Union (EU).

Mr. Zangina urged all to continue to draw useful lessons from political upheavals caused by disputed elections elsewhere in Africa, to keep away from pitfalls.

He asked that nobody became either complacent nor took the peace and security of the nation for granted.

He rallied the people to be bold to roundly condemn irresponsible, reckless and inciting pronouncements by any politician.

The candidates – Mr. Kwaku Oppong-Kyekyeku Kaakyire of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Owuraku Aidoo, New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Robert Adompo, People’s National Convention (PNC) and Mrs. Millicent Elizabeth Boateng (Independent) pledged to conduct their campaign peacefully, without bitterness and acrimony.
