Tension is mounting in the Banda district of the Brong Ahafo region as indigenes there are threatening to attack foreigners who they claim are invading the area.
The indigenes, who are mostly fisher folks and peasant farmers, have vowed to evict the foreigners no matter the consequences.
The immigrants, according to sources, are resorting to illegal fishing methods around the Bui catchment area.
Assemblyman for the Bui Community Maxwell Gbadago told Starr News the immigrants have refused to comply with rules governing fishing in the area.
“Because their fishing methods are not good and there is no regulation, it's difficult to work with them.
“And when we try to regulate them; they fight us. We keep complaining, but the authorities are not responding and with time, we may have to react,” he warned.
