William Boadi of the Educate Africa Institute (EAI) has drawn attention to the pressing issue of the Government of Ghana's (GoG) inability to settle its debts with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Boadi asserts that the GoG must transparently declare its financial incapacity to the Ghanaian public and seek assistance from parents and guardians to cover the BECE registration fees for their children.

He contrasts this situation with private schools, where the financial responsibility lies directly with parents who pay the BECE fees upfront, thereby preventing similar debts to WAEC.

This call highlights deeper systemic challenges within Ghana's educational framework, where financial management and resource allocation for public education are under scrutiny.

The plea for parental involvement underscores the urgency of ensuring uninterrupted access to BECE examinations, crucial for students' educational progression and future opportunities.
