There was a free-for-all fight involving National Democratic Congress (NDC) members at Ohwim in the Bohyen Electoral Area in the Bantama Constituency of the Ashanti Region.
The party activists, who seemed sharply divided, were at each other’s throats in the full glare of the public.
The fracas, believed to involve two feuding NDC factions at Ohwim, was captured on video which has since gone viral on social media.
Cause Of Fight
Checks by DAILY GUIDE indicated that the NDC’s upcoming constituency elections sparked the brawl.
One faction was said to have captured the polling station register to the chagrin of the other, and that resulted in the open fight.
In recent times there have been widespread reports of the NDC polls being characterized by exchange of blows at the various constituencies, especially the Ashanti Region.
This follows reports that some party members were hiding the polling station register which would be used for the upcoming party elections.
Recorded Fight
In the recent video, a party member at Ohwim is seen holding the party’s polling station register firmly to his chest.
Other party members, therefore, decided to engage him in a fisticuff in a desperate attempt to snatch the register from him.
The agitated party activists managed to punch the man in possession of the party’s document onto the ground; but he still refused to surrender the document.
He was then seen punching about 10 attackers.
“NDC members at Ohwim Electoral Area are fighting in public,” one of them said repeatedly, as he recorded the fight.
